Why Christian Should Not Take Up Yoga

I wanted to sign up for yoga class a few years back but my husband did not allow me. He told me that it has something to do with chanting, meditation and mantras that are not for the believer of Christ. I just obeyed without finding out more about it. Ya, I am a good wife. :P

Today I found a website that talk about Kundalini yoga exercises.

In Kundalini Yoga, great emphasis is placed on chanting and meditation. The Kundalini means coilded snake in the body can be awakened by practicing Asanas, Pranayama and Mantras. Once the Kundalini has been awakened, individuals may feel a variety of experiences including sensations along the spinal cord, trembling, tingling sensations, waves of heat, bursts of joy and even transcendental visions. Some believe that activating the Kundalini energy begins the path leading to Enlightenment.

By practicing yoga, indirectly we are practicing their beliefs and their ritual too.

My hubby asked me not to join yoga as well, saying that Christians are not allowed to.

I think that you have short-changed yourself in fully investigating the broader understanding of what God has created within your body.

You may invite yourself to ask yourself, “If god created everything in existence, then why has he created this supposed biologically based mechanism within our body to expand our senses?” …
…or ” If Hindus call it ‘Kundalini’.. then what did ancient Christians or Jews call it? It must have it’s own name in our religion! If God created it, then surely Christianity speaks of it in some form or another.”

And finally.. “Can I bring sacred and humble selfless joy to others by experiencing the benefits of this potential energy?”

    … Somethings to think about….
