Compare Car Insurance
icon1 Michelle | icon2 Family, Finance | icon4 08 13th, 2008| icon3No Comments »

All of us know that when spending money we need to get the best out of it. For instance when renewing your car insurance, you need to compare car insurance and get the best rate before flipping open your wallet/purse.

Unfortunately that I did not have the luxury to do because I depended on my dad to renew my car insurance because it is still under his name and for the love of his relatives; he bought it from one of his cousins!

Anyway, it was not that expensive but I am wondering whether I could get it cheaper else where. ;)

Conned

We are conned; one of the tenants was conned too! They left him alone our apartment not knowing that they have shifted. He did not even know that the deposit that he paid to them was not paid to us! He is cheated. And he is a stranger to them.

We are waiting for them to pay us a sum (for the outstanding utility bills) latest by 10th. If not, we are going to make a police report against them. We told them that. I hope that would make them pay. Hubby was a lawyer before and he knows the hassle of it and hope to settle this out of court.

*sigh*

Hit and Run

Poor Amy. She just bought a brand new car and it got hit by a truck yesterday. I just read from her blog that she just brought the car to a temple in Bangkok for prayer and how her son almost vomited in the car and how furious her hubby would be if that really happen. Now this is even worst than a child’s vomit; a hit and run accident! Thank God she can make claims from the cheap auto insurance that they bought. If not, sure heart pain! Then she would need to make claim for her health insurance then!

I told hubby about it. He was not surprise at all. According to him, driving in Bangkok is worst that driving in KL. I really can’t imagine that. I never dare driving in KL! Anyway, thank God that it is only the car that is injured and lives are saved.

If I were her, I would definitely not buy a new car if I were to live in Bangkok. If got hit, I won’t feel the pinch. But I will make sure to arm myself with health and life insurance! If I am hospitalized, I don’t have to spend much for my hospitalization bill and if I am dead, my children are taken care of financially.

About Apartment Again

Since they cannot afford to pay for the apartment, we suggested they move to our another apartment which is cheaper which is slightly further to the university compared to the existing one but fully furnished compared to the current apartment they are staying in.

They agreed. So went to the apartment to clean and change the floor pvc mat. I bought one whole role of the pvc mat and changed the pvc mat in all the rooms. Balance we used as our outdoor furniture covers.

Unfortunately, they still have not paid the deposit or even this month rental. Promises after promises, still not paid. I guess we will just forget about taking pity of them. We do not want to go to the stress of “begging” for the rental month after month.

Collecting Rental Problem
icon1 Michelle | icon2 Finance | icon4 08 4th, 2008| icon3No Comments »

For the past few years our apartments were being rented by foreign student. At first we thought we would face problem collecting rental from them but surprisingly, there weren’t a month they delayed paying rental.

Unfortunately, this year we did not get any foreign student to rent our apartment. Now, only one apartment is rented out to a group of local students. One day they agreed to rent, they only pay the first month rental and told us that they will pay the deposit of 2 months plus utilities deposit in a week time. We agreed. Unfortunately, until today the deposit is not paid and we are still awaiting for August rental. They have been promising to pay week after week and until today still no payment from them.

We went to meet them a few days ago and they promised to pay yesterday or they move out but when hubby called, they did not answer the call. Even SMS sent, they did not reply. They told us their problem. We want to take pity of them but when they did not answer our calls, that really gave us second thought.

I wish we can just hire Debt Collection agency to collect the rental on our behalf. Anyway, we will give them until tomorrow. If no calls from them, we will just seal the apartment!

63rd Birthday
icon1 Michelle | icon2 Family, Finance | icon4 07 18th, 2008| icon31 Comment »

We celebrated my dad’s 63rd birthday today at a small restaurant in town. Being a dad who has gone through tough time earning money for the family refused to let us spend money on just food which will become “fertiliser” the next day. We insisted because this will be one of the few times that the family get together and eat on the same table at the same time.

As his birthday gifts, I wanted to buy him golf balls but I am sure he will object so I gave him cash instead in a form of Angpow. My mom told me that he immediately head to the bank to save the money after I left home. Very typical of my dad. That is why he can bring all the 5 of us up plus my grandfather and grandmother with just RM700 a month!

Panicking

Ok ok, I admit that I am panicking now.

I have not break the news to my mom yet. I am still acting cool even though to date my earning is less than RM1k and my apartment is still not rented out. Anyone wanna rent is as Holiday Apartment?

Even though I have been bombed, I am struggling to hold every piece of my flesh together.

Why the shopping trip takes so long to arrive one???

Maybe I should look for small business for sale and start my own business while waiting.

Testing from God
icon1 Michelle | icon2 Blessings, Finance | icon4 07 3rd, 2008| icon3No Comments »

God is really testing my faith now. He blessed me so much financially in May that I decided to give 1k to the church mission fund. Last month, my income dropped to almost half; I have yet to write my cheque for the mission fund.

End of last month, the client’s requirement became more stringent. Yesterday I come to know that the company that I am doing business with had a change in management. I do not know whether the new management would still want my service or not. I will know next week. Praying for the best.

A pledge is a pledge, even if I earn only 1k this month, I will give that 1k to God. I have to refrain myself from going shopping often and only buy best buy items!

God never break His promises to bless and I will not too!

Cycle To Work

cycle

Today, I managed to see him off with a camera in hand. :). This is his 2nd attempt cycling to his shop which is 11km away from home. It takes him 45 mins to arrive. It is very tiring but he can manage without any legal steroids. He is hoping to kill 2 birds with one stone; to save petrol and also keep his body fit.

As for me, let’s see whether being a SAHM will help me reduce some weight!

God’s Vessel

I am so happy that God gave me more opportunity to bless others. I am enjoying His financial blessing now not all by myself but with people who are dear to me, with people that I just met on the internet and with friends that are in need of financial support.

Well, this is the main reason that God channels His wealth to us. Not for us to hoard but to give as He has freely given to us. If only all the rich man thinks the same, I believe there won’t be poverty in this world.

Praised God that we finally managed to gather RM67k for my SIL. All from her brothers and sister; one of the benefits of having many siblings.

I understand from one of my BILs that someone came to harass them for money on Easter Sunday. I wonder whether they are from the mortgage lenders. I hope not. And my SIL locked herself in her room for hours not wanting to talk to anyone due to the stress that she is facing.

Stress is not good coz it fools around with your hormones and this does not help in making her heal faster from her breast cancer.

I really hope that God will heal her ASAP and bless them financially indeed; more job offer for her hubby.

90% Persona
icon1 Michelle | icon2 Blessings, Finance | icon4 03 27th, 2008| icon3No Comments »

We went for car hunting just now. We are quite attracted to Proton Persona; the price is attractive too; affordable. Full loan of 9 years, RM565 a month. Praying that God will bless hubby’s business and my blogging that we would be able to settle the loan before the 9 years is up.

We will only decided to buy after we return from our Genting trip this Monday. I wonder whether they would offer freebies like medicare advantage. Tinted glass they will. :)

I am so excited. I can’t wait to drive a new car again; especially for hubby. As far as I know, he never own a new car before.

I shall work harder and pray harder.

I bought term life insurance last year and hubby got it much earlier. All this while I have been paying for all the insurance premium. Now that I am out of job (almost) and not much income from blogging too, I am wondering whether should I cancel my policy? I do not like to be burden by all this financial matter. I want to have cash in hand for my children’s education.

Hmmm…maybe I should hunt around for those low cost, or cheap term life insurance quotes. At least my children will have some extra money to bury my dead body. :P

We decided that we still want to have financial freedom that is not to owe anyone money. Not that we are financially free now. We have business loan to pay but at least that will be paid off in 3 years time. We have home loans to pay too but that is taken cared by our tenants. Pray that we will have tenants until the loans are paid off. ;)

To buy a new car, we will be in debt for at least 4 years for used car and 9 years for new car. I am not ready to add more debt into our life. Sometimes I regretted not knowing about paid post earlier. If not I would have bought a used car for cash. Those were the days when we still have our Page Rank; easily we can get RM5k a month.

Now, with me working only half day with half pay and not much paid post to write, it is unwise to go into more debt. So we decided to fix our current car until it can bring us outstation and climb the Genting Highland slopes. I could also use some of my money to upgrade my laptop memory. Make it run faster and maybe I could grab more opp that way.

Expensive Gift

iwc

Some people show love buy giving expensive gift to their love one like buying the IWC watch that cost tens of thousand dollar. Well, if you are super rich like the Sultan of Brunei, this amount is a piece of cake.

If you are super not rich like me, buying a used car must think thousands of time! Yes! I ever thought that one day I could surprise hubby with a new car. I wonder when will that day come.

Lord, please let it be soon. ;)

Chicken and Egg
icon1 Michelle | icon2 Finance | icon4 03 12th, 2008| icon3No Comments »

We are in a chicken and egg situation. We wanted to travel more often. On land, driving from one state to another. But our currents cars does not permits us to do so. So, we are thinking of getting a better car. We are not rich and can’t buy a car for cash. I did dream for a while that I might be able to buy a used car for cash but that dream has gone down the drain. :(

Anyway, back to reality and like anyone that is not rich like us, we need to pay installment every month in order to own one. If we need to pay installment every month, then we won’t have much to spend travel or holidaying.

Want to travel, no car.
Got car, no money to travel.

Anyone generous out there that can spare us your car whenever we need to travel? hehehe

I wrote about financial blessing some time ago. But sad to say that it all has gone down the drain.

I am still figuring out what is God trying to teach me here.

I could explode and reveal the company of its unprofessionalism.

I could link to the blog of the GM of the company that headhunted me and then disappointed me.

I could claim for my rights.

Hubby said I could even sue the company.

But I did not do any of the above. My conscience is telling me to just leave the company and the GM alone.

But I am still hoping that the GM would at least talk to me about it. I did not go beg for the job from him, he was the one who offered me the job. At least have the courtesy and courage to say “Sorry, our arrangement did not work out.” Be a man!

I brought home the car battery from the battery service centre. Hubby fix it back to my car and reminded me…”Whether rain or no rain, you have to start your car!” hehehehe.

Even on days when I don’t feel like leaving the house, I have to start my car. I think I will just find Car Loans and get a new car. With a new car, we go travel more often so going to Cameron Highland to meet our missionary friend wouldn’t be a problem. :)
