Hungry Ghost Month

We are now in the Hungry Ghost month according to the Chinese Lunar calendar. For the past 2 weekends, the Chinese has been busy praying and offering yummilicous food to the hungry ghost! Ghost can eat meh? Anyway, is Halloween around the corner too because I see some gift shops started selling halloween props.

As for me, I have been enjoying good food for the past 2 weekends. I get to eat the food they prepared before they offer them to the hungry ghost. :D No wonder I put on weight. Don’t think I can loose weight too soon because after the Hungry Ghost Month is the Mooncake Festival Month. Yum!

Ambon Cake

ambon cake

Hubby is back from Medan and he did not forget the Ambon Cake that I asked him to buy. :D He bought one original flavour and another, pandan with cheese. I prefer the original ones. Unfortunately, I forgotten to take photo of it. However, the taste is not as good as the first one that I tried many years ago. Too commercialize already until the quality deteriorates.

On Our 10th Wedding Annivesary

us This is us on our 10th wedding anniversary. This year we have a 4mo baby tagging along. ;) We had lunch at Kenny Roger’s Roaster. I browsed through our previous anniversary post, we ate at Kenny Roger’s during last year’s wedding anniversary. Hubby picked the place!

Before lunch, we have a good massage session at Phoenix Health Care & Foot Reflexology Centre, Melaka Raya. Hubby went for the 2 hours Body Massage with Oil and I had 1.5 hours of Foot Reflexology while carrying and nursing my 4mo baby! She was quite an entertainment to the Myanmar masseur.

We actually planned to watch movie, Thor but decided otherwise because the show is in 3D. Not comfy wearing the 3D glasses with our specs on. So, after lunch we had McD Sundae and Pretzel Stick with Eclairs for dessert. Then we head home to fulfill our parental duty; making sure the school goers complete their homework, and eat their dinner before we go out again for dinner.

satay celup

We had Satay Celup for dinner; 16 sticks each. ;) I wanted to eat Satay Celup at Capitol but by the time we reached the shop, we saw lotsa people queuing outside the shop to wait for an empty table. No-uh, not my style to queue for food, with or without baby around. I will only queue for food at the canteen or if I have no other food to eat (kinda life n death situation). We ended up at Ban Lee Siang, Jln Ong Kim Wee for our Satay Celup dinner; plenty of empty tables.

We do watch movie. Not in the cinema but in the comfort of our room. We watched Waiting Forever.

That’s about it on our 10th Wedding Anniversary. :D

Birthday Treat for My Firstborn

My firstborn daughter turned 8 years old yesterday. Instead of bringing everyone out for a dinner, we brought her alone; just mommy, daddy, baby and herself. It is her special day and we granted her wants. She wanted to eat wedding food. We treat her with these yummilicious dishes.

sweet sour pork

Sweet and Sour Pork

salad chicken

Fragrance Chicken Salad

cheese beehoon

Creamy Cheese Beehoon with Tiger Prawn

seafood fried rice

 Seafood Fried Rice

I bought for her a roller skate and a book, Big Nate (she has been requesting me to buy her this book for quite sometime already).

roller skate

We still walk around on a polished, black cement flooring. Dunno when we can afford to change to pergo flooring. ;)

big nate

The Malay book is an incentive when she did well in her Chinese spelling.

But she told me that she preferred the book more than the roller skate and wanted to spend her birthday Angpow money to buy more books. Since I have RM50 MPH voucher, we brought her to MPH to buy some books of her choice. She got all these and paid RM44.70 on top of the RM50 vouchers.

books

While at MP, she couldn’t resist the smell of freshly baked Famous Amos cookies, so we allowed her to buy 100g of it. If on other days, I would tell her that I will bake for her later. Not worth the money spent for just a 100g.

That’s about it. You know what, I still remember the labour pain that I had to go through to give birth to this beautiful daughter of mine. It was the toughest and most painful birth out of 5. Hubby still remembered the “dirty job” that he did.

My Hubby Can Cook!

sambal fried rice

All this while I thought my husband only knows how to cook instant noodle and fried eggs. He surprised me by cooking the above Sambal Fried Rice all by himself. Only after 10 years of marriage and 5 kids he cooked for me for the very first time. That was the best fried rice I ever had. :D

Makan Fellowship Every Month

The mothers in my church suggested that we have Makan Fellowship (fellowship over food) every month and each of us mother take turns to host it at our home every month. It all started when one of mothers invited us for lunch after church service. We had a great time enjoying the delicious home-cooked food and the fellowship. Then one of the mother’s jokingly asked “So, next month whose turn?” All of us agreed that it is a good idea. Instead of scratching our head where to go for lunch after church, we just head to the church member’s house for a good meal.

We had Makan fellowship last month to celebrate the 1st birthday of a pretty girl named Leticia. This month will be my son 2nd birthday. I am still contemplating whether to invite them for Makan Fellowship. Can I manage with a newborn? I am not sure.

On Our 10th Marriage Annivesary

Yesterday we celebrated our 10th Marriage Anniversary; the day we legally become husband and wife. Being someone from a legal background (my dear hubby), he prefers to observe this day compared to our wedding day that was on May 12. I prefer to celebrate May 12; the day I wore my beautiful wedding gown and walk down the aisle with my dad. In the end, we got 2 anniversaries to celebrate. Yay!

At first we were quite disappointed that we won’t be able to celebrate this day because hubby got to work till 9pm. The day before yesterday, hubby managed to get his ex-part time staff to come in for a few hours while we go pamper ourselves on our special day. :D

Shabu Shabu

We went for our massages, then to lunch at a Japanese restaurant; San Ramen at Mahkota Parade. I had Shabu-Shabu and hubby, Salmon Ramen. The food is kinda bland to our taste bud. Japanese food is not for us. We then bought some bread at Pattifrance.

Then we went to Bunga Raya to buy some felt materials for me to make hair clips then we rush back home because hubby got to start work already.

All Souls Day

Today my girls were not in school because their school observes the All Souls Day. Only Catholic celebrates this day. And only some Catholic schools close on this day. So, I took this opportunity to bring my children out for an outing. The only place that is safe and convenient for me to bring my children age 1.5yo till 7yo is to McD at MP. We were there for 2 hours; they enjoyed their meals and then played till their heart content at the playground. Unfortunately, my 1.5yo had a colon cleanse the moment we arrived home; he purged 2-3 times! I think it is due to eating too much french fries. :(

Refreshment for Men’s Fellowship

Today is the first time we host the Men’s fellowship in our home. I really look forward for today especially the refreshment preparation part. :D I made tuna sandwich with mayonaise, minced carrot and onions, Leng Chee Kang, Coconut Pudding and my mom helped to make Kuih Bongkong; a Nyonya delicacies. We also served some bananas. BIL brought butter cake too. We prepared Milo and Nescafe too because according to hubby, the adviser needs a certain level of sugar in his body but the drinks were untouched. I think the refreshment I prepared are all sweet stuff; more than enough sugar for him! hahaha. As for the rest, they better go look for fat burners if they do not want to increase the size of their spare tyre.

Thank God for Breastmilk

I really thank God for allowing me to fully breastfeed my 4th child till he is 1 year old. Today my baby turns 18 months old; 1.5yo already! :) And I am still breastfeeding him when he wants to sleep. I still have breastmilk you know. :)

We save a lot when we don’t need to buy any formula milk for him! Milk is darn expensive these days and I just changed his formula milk from Enfagrow (i think it is the most expensive brand in the market) to Dumex; the milk that hubby and I grew up with.

Besides saving our moolah, breastmilk keeps my baby immune system strong and keeps me slim! hahaha. You can find out more about the benefit of breastfeeding at breast-milk.org. I need to go do my Saturday chores now. Tata!

Cheap Live Crabs

I so envy hubby. While he was in Pitas, he got the chance to eat fresh crabs and prawns till his heart content. It is because they are so cheap there. One kilo of live crabs only cost them RM6. Here we need to pay at least RM26 for a kilo! And hubby does not favor eating prawns but he can’t resist the prawns there; they are so fresh and juicy. Now I understand why some mommy bloggers will make yearly trip to Sabah just to indulge in their seafood. Then later whine about getting the best slimming pill in town to loose weight!

Eating Every 2 Hours

I have a small tummy. Hmmm…maybe I have trained my tummy since varsity days to eat small portion as to reduce spending much on food. Since then, I can’t eat much BUT I get hungry very fast. At times, I will eat every 2 hourly. Sometimes, I will eat healthily. Sometimes, I will just grab whatever I can find on the table or in the fridge. But recently, the food that I am taking can guarantee that I will be a fat pig in a few months time. Not sure whether hydroxycut can help me become a skinny praying mantis again. hehehe.

Leftover KFC for Breakfast

Yesterday, I treated everyone at home KFC coz I got RM50 from my brother for helping to send and fetch his girls to and from kindy. Ya, ya, ya, I should use that money to pump petrol eh. :P Nevermind, petrol is in my budget already. This RM50 is extra so, must bless others with it. :)

Hubby was at work as usual and I still buy 2 pieces for him coz he loves KFC. Unfortunately he came home way too late to enjoy the KFC and now, I am eating it for breakfast. Got to look for best weight loss pills after this coz fried chicken is fattening!

Breakfast with Hubby

To some this is not a big thing but to me, it is a VERY BIG THING. :P

I lost count of how many times we go out for breakfast together. Not because it is too many times but because I can’t remember when was the last time we do that. I think it was my birthday 2 years ago; we went to eat Dim Sum!

We hardly go out for breakfast together because hubby is not a morning person. It is so difficult to find him awake earlier that 9am unless he wants to cycle to work.

Anyway, on Monday it was raining and hubby woke up before 9am. I was so happy coz I was thinking how nice it would me to eat hot, crispy roti canai and a hot cup of Horlicks/Milo on a cold rainy morning. I can’t remember when was the last time I ate hot, crispy roti canai too.

All our children were still asleep and I verbalised my thought and hubby agreed coz he can’t go online too coz it was raining. hehehehe. Off we went to a nearby warung to enjoy hot, crispy roti canai with a cup of hot Horlicks. :D

More Unclean Food Now

Looks like I got to start checking out http://www.coloncleanser.net. Wondering why? Well, since I resigned from cooking, we have been eating at my mom’s during the weekday and eating out during the weekend. My mom loves to cook sambal prawns, sambal squids, sweet sour crabs, sambal belacan and cencaluk. These seafood dishes are unclean food! It taste nice but it does bad things to our health. Hmm…looks like we need to do colon cleansing whenever possible.

Watermelon Irritates My Throat

For the first time in my life, I have watermelon growing right beside and behind my house. It is so hard to resist the red and juicy fresh plucked watermelon. I managed to enjoy eating and drinking pure watermelon juice for about a week before I came down with a cough. When I am coughing, just a small bite of the juicy water melon sends me coughing non stop! It irritates my throat badly. Do you think colonix can help?

Resigned from Being A Cook; Almost.

Starting this month, I have resigned from cooking lunch and dinner for my family; more for hubby actually. Reason being, my almost 1yo baby wakes up earlier now which prevented me from cooking. When he wakes up, he wants his nen-nen and 90% of the time, I will doze off again for about an hour. By the time, I woke up, hubby needs to leave for work already. When hubby is not around, no one is there to help me look after baby while I cook and I can’t cook with a baby hanging around me at the wet kitchen; let’s say that the wet kitchen is not safe for baby. ;)

Since my children and I have our dinner at my mom’s almost everyday and she always have left-over food, I suggested that she cook for all of us for lunch and dinner too. She can save money coz I will be giving her extra allowance for the food and there will not be wastage anymore. As for me, I have more time to clean my house, more time for my baby and more online time. I can even do healthcare job search if you want me too. ;) As for hubby, he is enjoying good food and more varieties everyday.

I said “Almost” because, I still need to cook for my children’s breakfast.

Peaceful Dinner

Just now I make my face thick thick and send all my 4 children to my mom’s so that hubby and I have can a peaceful dinner. We went to Malim food court to enjoy hot steaming claypot Bak Kut Teh. We took our time to enjoy our food which we seldom get to do when dining with the children.

We had quite a show during lunch today. After church we brought the children to McD to enjoy some ice-cream. After ordering 2 Sundaes and 1 Sundae Cone, my son insisted that he wanted Sundae Cone and not Sundae. The cone was for my 2nd girl and she refused to share with him. After a good 15 minutes of crying out loud by my son, my 2nd girl finally gave in. It was quite a show. :)
