No AC???

I appreciate the guest post, Jewel Rodgers.

Why in the world would anyone choose not to have air-conditioning? I mean, I guess I understand if you live somewhere like Canada, but I live here in Texas… I don’t know how the previous owners of my house possibly made it through one summer without AC. I didn’t even think to check when I bought the place since the idea of not having air conditioning was so absurd and I bought in December when it wasn’t needed. It’s been really expenses putting in a brand-new air-conditioning unit but I think it’s finally installed correctly and now my home is cool. It runs off of electric, so I did some research on sites like http://www.texaselectricityproviders.com/stream-energy-texas/Texas/A/Aransas-Pass/ to make sure I was getting the best electricity rate for my money. I was so sick of walking around my house sweating, and I couldn’t understand how anyone had ever lived here before. Thank goodness all this is getting resolved just in time for summer since last week this adventure was over 90° every single day. Crazy people!

Earning My Own Fixed Income

Looking at hubby’s business sales, I am so tempted to start working again. I dislike the thoughts of having not enough by month end to pay for our monthly expenses. I dislike having to think twice before having a meal at a food court. I dislike having to choose a cheaper food than the food that I want/like to eat which is sometimes (ok, most of the time) expensive. I wonder whether my ex-company is willing to hire me again after leaving them for 3 years. I wonder whether they will allow me to work only 5 hours a day for half the pay that I used to be paid. At least with that half month pay, I can cover the home loan installment and education insurance. Then maybe wealth management company like Missoula, MT wealth management group can help me manage my income so that I can gain more from it. But then, I can only work when my last baby can eat adult food, that is another half a year to go. Let’s see how things go by then.

Cannot Get Angry on My Birthday

I was pretty upset with myself for forgetting my firstborn son’s birthday. He is the son that we have been waiting for after having 2 girls. How could I forget? He is also the only child that I gave birth without hubby beside me in the labor room. I asked my son whether he is angry at me for forgetting his birthday and not buying any birthday present for him, not even a barcode scanner. He told me this, “Mommy, I cannot get angry because today is my birthday.” He also forbade me from scolding him throughout the day. He said, “Today is my birthday, you also cannot get angry with me.” 0.o

More Toys To Compensate Mommy’s Forgetfulness

To compensate my forgetfulness about his 5th birthday, I allowed my son to spend his birthday angpow money to buy a few kids games of his choice. He bought a kite but got no chance to play with it yet because daddy is busy working in the evening and no one can bring him to the beach to fly his kite. He bought 2 water guns to play with his 2yo brother and a set of shooting jets. We also brought him to McD for dinner on his birthday.

Forgot Son’s Birthday

For the first time after 8 years of having children, I forgotten one of my children’s birthday and he is my firstborn son. Months before his birthday, I did plan to have a birthday party for him and get the jungle gym installation connecticut to put up a swing and slide set in our backyard for his friends to play. Unfortunately when his birthday month came, I was down with mastitis, my MIL was hospitalised due to appendicitis and one of my nieces was hospitalised for a day due to a deep cut on her nose bridge. Due to all those, I totally forgotten about my son’s birthday. If not for my hubby who told us about it on the day after he came home from the hospital, I will totally forgotten about his birthday day.

Stingy Mode

My hubby is on a stingy mode now. No more dining out after church with the children anymore. Can only dine out with the children on special occasion only. That will be probably less than 10 times a year. I have no say coz I do not bring home the bread anymore. In time like this, how I wish I am still earning my own income.

No Spending Freedoom

It has always been my dream to be a SAHM. After 9 years earning my own income and after having 3 children, circumstances made me decided to follow my dream. Come this June, it will be my 3rd year being a SAHM. If I tell you that I enjoy every moment being one, I’d be lying. There are times that I wish I am still working and away from my children for that few hours.

Another one is when I can’t spend as I wish. *sigh* In moment like this, how I wish I am still working so that I can spend without asking permission. I can buy nice beach dress for the Beach Party Invitations, I can buy more pretty clothes for my girls, I can indulge in the food that I enjoy eating without thinking twice about the price etc. Without my own income, even with 50% discount I can’t buy. 50% still money what. :(

8 years old girl prays

When my eldest daughter was in my tummy, we showered her with lots of prayer. After she is born, we prayed for her and with her. When she can talk, we taught her to pray. We encourage her to pray and pray for her siblings and us too. At 8 years old, she started to pray for herself and her siblings out of her own initiative. She will teach them to pray and lead them in prayer too.

I just discovered this a few days ago when checking them minutes after sending the to bed. Just before entering their room, I heard my eldest asking her brother and sister to pray along with her. I am so proud of her!

Unpredictable Weather

The weather is very unpredictable now. It can be very hot at one moment and heavy down pour a few hours after that. Thank God we have one of honda portable generators to keep our home lighted up when there is blackouts. I dunno why our house is very lightning prone. We got our LCD monitor struck by lightning before and modem, a few times! So now, we are very careful when it starts to rain. Computer shut down and telephone cable removed from the modem. Just a moment ago, I got soaking wet when sending my girls to school. There was heavy downpour at the area but not a single drop of rain 4km away from their school area. As I am typing now, it is starting to get dark here. The clouds must have blown the “bad cloud” here.

Flattening the Bloated Tummy

A month after I gave birth to my 5th child, my tummy was flatter than now; my baby is 4m10d old as of today. I am baffled as what caused the bloated tummy. I read that the best creatine supplements do not cause bloated tummy. Furthermore, I am still breastfeeding 2 babies; the other one is not a baby anymore actually, he is a 2yo boy already. ;) I should have the flattest tummy that many mothers would envy. Why did I go wrong? Could it be the late night snacks before bedtime? I need to “fuel” up before going to bed because I need to produce milk for their night feed. In 2 months time, my youngest will start solid and I plan to start watching my diet; no more supper. Let’s see whether I can have the flattest tummy every woman dream off. ;)

Practicing Law

Those that come to know that hubby has a law degree cannot comprehend why he did not practice law, make lots of money and be famous like those Austin personal injury lawyer at O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949. Instead, he is just an owner of a small internet cafe that make money just enough to sustain our monthly expenses. Oh well, who does not want to be rich and famous. To be rich and famous by being a lawyer is not hubby’s dream. He studied law because that is the best course for his good STPM result. Others will think that you are insane if you study Social Science or Physical Education with 4A and 1B. Apart from that, he is from a very poor family and being a lawyer would raise up his family name. Anyway, he did practice law for about 3 years and discovered that that is not what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

A Marital Advice

This is an email which I wrote to someone recently…

Marriage is never a bed of roses but most important there must be trust and transparently in marriage be it friends or money matters. My husband knows most of my friends; mostly online friends. I tell him everything and sometimes things that i cannot tell directly to him, i blog about it coz he reads my blog.

And when it comes to money, he knows how much i earn n save and so do i with his. We didn’t have any separate savings account; my money is his money, his money is my money. I helped him a lot too with his business when i was still working. I literally support him and the family when he first started his business. Even when we quarrel, we dont bring it up coz i do it sincerely. He is my husband what; if he susah, we also susah mah. i know most my my friends hv a secret bank account that their hubby didnt know about. this is not healthy in marriage. it shows that we dont trust our husband. and when the husband sense that we dont trust them, they will be very defensive and do the same too.

the only way to solve your marriage problem is to talk, talk and talk. no quarreling, no shouting, no screaming and no accusing pls. try to control your temper even when he did not control his. you cant think straight and rationally when both of you are shouting to each other.

for him to envy you, i agree it is wrong. ask him what is his expectation of you. tell him what is your expectation of him. discuss about it. he may not be able to fulfill all your expectation and so do you. find the best way to meet each other expectation.

when it comes to sharing about our daily life; what we do, where we go, who is our friends, what we eat, what we talk about with our friends etc. for men, you must ask them. man are not made to be a chatter box like us ladies. they will only tell if we ask. and they dont tell in detail also. so we have to be specific with our questions.

don’t give up so fast in your marriage ok. marriage is like a marathon. u run, u fall, u get up, you run again, you feel tired but you must not quit. u must finish the race. “till death do us part.” the first 7 years of marriage is very challenging. after that, it will be easier but not without problem though.

in a way problem is good. it helps the couple to know each other better n when both of u come out of this problem it is like a big wall that is separating both of u is broken down. u’ll appreciate each other more n love each other more too.

I’m Fat!!!

No joke man! I am fat now because the jeans that used to be loose when I tried on it after a month giving birth is now very tight! Actually arh, I kinda expected that I will put on weight because I am eating for 3 now to ensure I have more than enough breast milk for my 2 babies and nutrition for the 3 of us. I have 2 more months to eat like a pig. Once my youngest baby starts solid, I’ll go back to eating for myself only, no more supper and only drink lots of liquid for more breast milk. If that does not help me to reduce weight, then I have to look for weight lost supplement at buyapidexin.com. I want to fit into my jeans again!!!

IT Degree

Hubby has a law degree from University Malaya. He is currently doing his 2nd degree. I can’t remember the name of the degree; something to do with mission work. I hope he graduate this year; it has been more than 6 years already. It is a correspondence degree so he is taking his own sweet time to study! He plans to take up another degree after he has completed this. Since he is in an cyber cafe business, he wants to take up the it degree so that he will have more knowledge about IT and later to expand his business to more than just cyber cafe.

Pondan in English

What is Pondan in English? Pondan, also known as Shemales or Transvestites are commonly found in Thailand. Maybe because they are more daring to dress up like a woman. The Shemales in Thailand are very beautiful; more beautiful than the females! In Malaysia, there are Pondan too but many tried their very best to live as a man. I was surprised to find out that one of my mom’s nephews is a transvestite. Unfortunately, he is more into his feminine side. He dresses up like a girl. If you ask him what is testosterone? He will tell you that he lacks of it with a very sad look. I have an uncle who is a lil bit sissy but Thank God he was strictly brought up like a man and he did not mingle around with people like him. He is a lil bit softy but he did not dress up like a girl.

On Our 10th Wedding Annivesary

us This is us on our 10th wedding anniversary. This year we have a 4mo baby tagging along. ;) We had lunch at Kenny Roger’s Roaster. I browsed through our previous anniversary post, we ate at Kenny Roger’s during last year’s wedding anniversary. Hubby picked the place!

Before lunch, we have a good massage session at Phoenix Health Care & Foot Reflexology Centre, Melaka Raya. Hubby went for the 2 hours Body Massage with Oil and I had 1.5 hours of Foot Reflexology while carrying and nursing my 4mo baby! She was quite an entertainment to the Myanmar masseur.

We actually planned to watch movie, Thor but decided otherwise because the show is in 3D. Not comfy wearing the 3D glasses with our specs on. So, after lunch we had McD Sundae and Pretzel Stick with Eclairs for dessert. Then we head home to fulfill our parental duty; making sure the school goers complete their homework, and eat their dinner before we go out again for dinner.

satay celup

We had Satay Celup for dinner; 16 sticks each. ;) I wanted to eat Satay Celup at Capitol but by the time we reached the shop, we saw lotsa people queuing outside the shop to wait for an empty table. No-uh, not my style to queue for food, with or without baby around. I will only queue for food at the canteen or if I have no other food to eat (kinda life n death situation). We ended up at Ban Lee Siang, Jln Ong Kim Wee for our Satay Celup dinner; plenty of empty tables.

We do watch movie. Not in the cinema but in the comfort of our room. We watched Waiting Forever.

That’s about it on our 10th Wedding Anniversary. :D

Birthday Treat for My Firstborn

My firstborn daughter turned 8 years old yesterday. Instead of bringing everyone out for a dinner, we brought her alone; just mommy, daddy, baby and herself. It is her special day and we granted her wants. She wanted to eat wedding food. We treat her with these yummilicious dishes.

sweet sour pork

Sweet and Sour Pork

salad chicken

Fragrance Chicken Salad

cheese beehoon

Creamy Cheese Beehoon with Tiger Prawn

seafood fried rice

 Seafood Fried Rice

I bought for her a roller skate and a book, Big Nate (she has been requesting me to buy her this book for quite sometime already).

roller skate

We still walk around on a polished, black cement flooring. Dunno when we can afford to change to pergo flooring. ;)

big nate

The Malay book is an incentive when she did well in her Chinese spelling.

But she told me that she preferred the book more than the roller skate and wanted to spend her birthday Angpow money to buy more books. Since I have RM50 MPH voucher, we brought her to MPH to buy some books of her choice. She got all these and paid RM44.70 on top of the RM50 vouchers.

books

While at MP, she couldn’t resist the smell of freshly baked Famous Amos cookies, so we allowed her to buy 100g of it. If on other days, I would tell her that I will bake for her later. Not worth the money spent for just a 100g.

That’s about it. You know what, I still remember the labour pain that I had to go through to give birth to this beautiful daughter of mine. It was the toughest and most painful birth out of 5. Hubby still remembered the “dirty job” that he did.

Leave Indonesia, Marry Malaysian Man

In the church that I am currently attending, there are many Indonesian ladies. They are either the factory workers or married to the local man here. Most of them are married to either a middle age man; some 20 years older than them or divorcee. They are not rich though; middle income. Some are in transportation careers like lorry driver and taxi driver, some are hawkers and some are just construction laborers. These ladies don’t mind though; as long as they get to leave their country and leave the poverty behind, they close their eyes on how not handsome or old their husband is.

My Hubby Can Cook!

sambal fried rice

All this while I thought my husband only knows how to cook instant noodle and fried eggs. He surprised me by cooking the above Sambal Fried Rice all by himself. Only after 10 years of marriage and 5 kids he cooked for me for the very first time. That was the best fried rice I ever had. :D
